(SPOT.ph) Yesterday, September 9, online shopping platform Shopee held their highly anticipated 9.9 Super Shopping Day—an event that has become a common practice among brands and online sellers in which huge promos and discounts become available starting on a day that matches the month's number—May 5, June 6, July 7, August 8, and so on. These repdigit sales are hugely popular among dedicated online shoppers and folks looking to save a few bucks on essential purchases. Many people wait until these monthly sales occur before making any huge purchases—or else, they use the sale as an excuse to go on an online shopping spree.
As you might expect, Shopee—along with other e-commerce sites—well, sell a lot, to put it bluntly. In fact, at this year's 9.9 sale, they were able to sell many as 1.8 million items in a single minute across Southeast Asia during the first two hours of the sale alone.

According to Shopee, the most popular items purchased among Filipino shoppers were finds in the categories of home, health, personal care, and women’s apparel. So if you spent the past day or so purchasing new storage solutions, skincare products, or clothing, then don't worry because you're not alone.
In the first eight hours of 9.9, which began promptly at September 9 midnight, face masks were the top-selling item on the platform—a reminder that what people buy is always a reflection of the times they live in. Plus, there's something nice about knowing that most shoppers were being practical with their 9.9 purchases. Face masks were followed by mobile phones and footwear in terms of sales. Apparently, one user even purchased over 120 orders within just half a day. In case you were feeling guilty after all your impulsive buys, at least you know there's someone out there with an even bigger online-shopping addiction.
Though the 9.9 Super Shopping Day typically only runs for 24 hours, it was extended until the end of September 10, according to the Shopee website. Hit add to cart while you still can!
