(SPOT.ph) We're sure you're aware Ramen Ron makes some of the best bowls of the Japanese noodle soup around. The reincarnation of longtime favorite Makati ramen spot Ukokkei Ramen Ron came about in 2020, with famed Chef Tamura-san partnering up with Chef Margarita Fores (of Cibo, Grace Park, and Lusso fame) and Amado Fores (of a mano) to come up with ramen kits that deliver the full-flavored experience the OG is known for. They're also slated to open their own dine-in restaurant very soon!
Now if there's anything that we yearn for after polishing off a warm bowl of ramen, it's dessert—specifically that of the cold and creamy sort, to cool off the tongue and conclude the meal on a totally indulgent note. No need to look elsewhere, Spotters: Ramen Ron has recently introduced new desserts that'll send your taste buds on a sweet and dreamy high.
Don't miss these sweet new meal-enders from Ramen Ron:
Ramen Ron's new dessert line goes for a Japanese motif, but with welcome playful elements that make them just a touch more modern without losing sight of their identity. There's the quintessential Matcha Ice Cream (P495/pint), for starters; their take is rightfully creamy, but still allows the earthiness of the green tea to shine through. It's also served with caramelized cornflakes—go ahead and sprinkle on as little or as much as you'd like, for a salty-sweet, crunchy contrast that'll keep you hooked.
If you can't get enough of prepackaged mochi ice cream sold at Japanese supermarkets, their take—dubbed the Chilled Sweet Milk Mochi (P125)—will have you hooked. Its rice-cake exterior is handmade, lending it a delightful chew that's not at all tough; and as you take a bite, you're met with a not-too-sweet filling of milk ice cream with the clean, unadulterated flavor of dairy. Black sesame seeds on top make for a subtle nuttiness while still letting the pure flavor of the milk to shine.
And for a slightly more out-of-the-box bite, the Popcorn Creme Brulee (P195) has your back. Consider this the mashup you never knew you needed: It takes after the classic crème-brûlée format, with a burnt-sugar top that makes way to a rich custard underneath—but the said custard has a surprise nutty, toasty profile from being infused with popcorn! It's also topped with caramel-coated popcorn, which you can nibble on for a subtle crunch in between bites of the burnt-sugar layer and cream.
Apart from desserts, Ramen Ron launched special merch in collaboration with designer and The Artisan co-founder Kix Suarez and local brands Crispa.ph and Secret Fresh! The Ramen Ron T-Shirt (P950) is a savvy addition to your closet with its simple yet impactful black-and-white motif.
You can score their desserts and merch—along with their other signatures like ramen kits and gyoza—through Ramen Ron's Pickup.ph website, which lets you order for pickup or delivery on your date and time slot of choice.
