(SPOT.ph) The Cinema '76 Film Society is shutting down their San Juan branch on September 15, they announced on their Facebook page today, September 10. Co-founded by TBA Studios, this micro-cinema has served as one of the rare places where creatives could come together since they opened in 2016. We're sure you remember cozying up on their blue seats while watching an indie movie here!

"Our hearts may be heavy, but we know that this is not goodbye," they said in their Facebook announcement. "Magkakasama-sama rin tayo ulit sa loob ng sinehan."

Their Anonas branch in Quezon City—where they recently opened up a cafĂ©—will not be shut down, although quarantine restrictions do not allow for it to operate as of writing. It will be opened to moviegoers "once the world is ready," according to their statement. TBA Studios also launched Cinema '76@Home, their own digital platform for streaming movies, in November 2020.

The Cinema '76 San Juan branch is one of the many hubs that have closed down since the pandemic started. Micro-cinemas across Metro Manila have been barred from operating since March 2020 under the quarantine.
