(SPOT.ph) The Philippines has a long way to go in our vaccination program if we want to achieve "herd immunity" (70% vaccinated individuals) or even just "population protection" (50% vaccinated individuals). Local government units are coming up with different ways to fast-track their vaccination programs, from opening vaccination sites after work hours to transforming movie houses into vaccination centers. The Office of the Vice President, for their part, partnered with Manila City to open "Vaccine Express," which runs from June 22 to 23 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines' parking lot. It's a drive-thru service catering to tricycle and pedicab drivers and delivery riders.

Aside from a collaboration among the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Manila City, and Cultural Center of the Philippines, UBE Express, Seaoil, and Smart Communications also pitched. Volunteer doctors and nurses were also called upon to help in the efforts. "We need some more doctors and nurses so we can vaccinate as many as possible at the shortest possible time," Vice President Leni Robredo said in a call for volunteers on June 20.

Some of the medical volunteers came from the OVP's Bayanihan E-Konsulta, a free telemedicine service that rolled out in April. It caters to both COVID and non-COVID patients within the NCR Plus bubble. The Facebook page is accessible with free data, since you only need to send them a message through Facebook Messenger.
