Here's What We Know About Kingdom: Ashin of the North So Far

That kid you saw was Ashin, whom we saw all grown up at the end of the series' second season cliffhanger ending (As played by Gianna Jun). For the special episode though, the younger Ashin is played by Kim Sia. The extended teaser trailer gave us a glimpse of the resurrection plant—as well as a peek at why Ashin was so interested in it (Read: the sick mom).

And then there is what must be the resurrection plant itself. There's something about those strange cell-like structures that's giving us the heebie-jeebies. Plus, did Netflix really drop another big cat-zombie on us?

According to Netflix's official synopsis, Ashin and her family are foreigners who settled within the Kingdom of Joseon. "Their encounter with a mysterious disease sets Ashin down a path of betrayal, prejudice, and revenge."

“Ashin is one of the main characters in the Kingdom series,” shares writer Kim Eun Hee in an earlier SPOT.ph article. "I thought that it would be more apt to tackle that in the special episode, a spin-off, rather than incorporating that into the regular seasons, just to make it more interesting." BRB while we prep the popcorn.
