(SPOT.ph) Cebu is in the last stages of vaccinating their medical frontliners, which means they'll soon be going down the list of high-priority folks in line for the COVID-19 vaccine. Around 20 vaccination centers across the province will be put up, according to an agreement between government authorities and private entities signed on Monday, March 29. With the ball officially rolling, you might be wondering how the program will work out in the province's capital, Cebu City.
"In a day or two, we will be done with the vaccination of our frontliners. So within this week, we may start with our senior citizens and those with co-morbidities," said Secretary Michael Dino, presidential assistant for the Visayas, in a CDN report.

Cebu City's vaccination program began in early March. As of March 26, a total of 1,825 barangay health workers were already vaccinated. Meanwhile, scheduled from March 29 to 31 for the program are medical health workers from different fields—including pharmacists and caregivers—at two vaccination sites, Robinsons Galleria and the University of Cebu. No official dates for the next group on the priority list have been announced as of writing.
Around P400 million has been set aside for vaccine funds by the Cebu City Government. Once the program is in full effect, ideally 400 individuals per site per day will be inoculated, said city Mayor Edgardo Labella.

A vaccine simulation rollout was held on March 19 at the Our Lourdes Parish-Don Bosco Youth Center in Barangay Punta Princesa. "This is a very good practice, this simulation, to avoid confusion in the future," said Labella in a mix of English and Cebuano. Several steps were laid down to guide folks during the actual vaccination program, reported CDN; check it out below:
- Pre-registration - This will be done at the barangay level. Health workers will visit residents to gather vital information and assess your medical condition for vaccine eligibility.
- Schedule announcement - City government will be in charge of organizing when the vaccines will be administered to certain groups, once they are available. Keep your contact lines open for when they reach out to you regarding your schedule; you will be provided a QR code carrying your information.
- Verification - Once at the vaccination site—complete with all the protective equipment like masks and shields—your QR code will be scanned and information double-checked.
- Registration - The proper registration includes a short medical check-up to ensure you're in proper condition to receive the vaccine.
- Counseling - Medical professionals will be present to brief you on the vaccine and its possible effects; just to make sure you're fully aware of the situation and calm any fears.
- Vaccination - The actual shot!
- Monitoring - Those vaccinated will have to wait for 30 minutes after the shot in case of any adverse effects. A card will be given to you with information on your next dose.
