(SPOT.ph) Look, 2020 is the year we all took "expect the unexpected" to heart—which is why a follow-up commercial to that crazy soda commercial just makes sense. RC Cola dropped a huge WTF bomb on all of us in November and yup, they're back with another crazy ad! Like they said, "Di naman kailangan ng maraming rason," so if your brain cells need a break, check it out. Just, well, you may want to sit down for this:

You okay there? Need a little help processing all of that? Yeah, we're with you. We break down the commercial in little bite-sized stills below—because yes, we really need to look at it twice.
Are you currently losing it over the girl holding her hand that's holding the glass? Yeah, we are too. Anyways, now that we've bonded through that hardcore experience, we're sure you have questions. Here are some off the top of our heads:
- "So, is there world exactly like ours but with people who secretly have cola paraphernalia on their bodies?"
- "Is this group of people related to the family from the first commercial?"
- "If I tug on my hand right now, will it come off and reveal a bottle of soda?"
The ad agency behind the RC Cola Universe—because, yes, there's bound to be more, make of that what you will—is GIGIL, the same folks behind other viral commercials like that cheesy bacon guy with cannibalistic tendencies and that father on TikTok. This new universe they've created for the RC Cola brand centers around a pretty simple campaign: "Basta!"
Sure, there were a million crazy theories when the first one dropped, and this second one, "BAND," is sure to add fuel to the fire. But as GIGIL explained to SPOT.ph, they just wanted to reach out to the Gen Z kids for RC Cola's brand—"They don't need a list of reasons before doing something." So they decided to create a crazy, hilarious world without reason, and it looks like it's going to be an expansive one. "For future ads from the RC Cola Universe, just keep your eyes peeled."
"There's method behind the madness," GIGIL shares with SPOT.ph in a statement. The commercial "doesn’t have to mean anything, but it actually went through a lot of thinking," with the Gen Z desire to fit in and belong front and center (Though we know that's a feeling we can all relate to). "And the meaning
behind all the elements used in 'BAND' is up to conspiracy theorists to decide! It’s open for interpretation!" they add.
It is "only natural" that a million different readings sprouted from the first commercial, they noted. With all the theories floating around though, one things is for sure: the brand has definitely "managed to infiltrate and create a space for itself in Pinoy pop culture." Looks like we'll have to wait and see what else is in the RCU!
