(SPOT.ph) Remember that old OPM hit by Marco Sison "Si Aida, Si Lorna, O Si Fe," a track about someone who couldn't choose between the three ladies in his life? Well, what do we know—making huge life decisions is hard, and the same goes for arguably simpler problems like selecting gifts for the upcoming holidays. For the food lovers in your life, you may want to check out this collaboration between local bean-to-bar chocolate brand Auro Chocolate and Filipino fashion designer Lesley Mobo called Lesley Mobo Limited Collection: chocolate bars that are an ode to—you guessed it—Aida, Lorna, and Fe.
According to Auro Chocolate, the collaboration was "conceived out of pure passion and pleasure." These limited (only 1,000 sets are available!) and collectible chocolate boxes highlight three special chocolate bars with visually striking packaging showcasing Filipinas dressed in “Tropical Ternos”, featuring Mobo's signature designs. Plus, these bars have truly one-of-a-kind flavors that you won't find elsewhere, taking after the flavors of the three regions—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—and inspired by Chef Victor Magsaysay, crafted by Auro Chocolate.
The first bar in the bunch (representing Luzon) is Si Aida. This special bar has a bottom layer of 64% dark chocolate with ylang-ylang essence, and a top layer of roasted white chocolate. Don't let the floral bit scare you—it's got a floral tinge to it alright, but the ylang-ylang flavor is balanced out by the fruitiness of the dark chocolate and the caramel note of the roasted white chocolate.
Next up (representing Visayas) is Si Lorna, featuring pandan-tinged 32% white chocolate with peanuts and dried green mango. Here, the "Asian vanilla" brings out the white chocolate's creaminess distinctive cacao-butter note, while the peanuts and dried green mango give you pops of nuttiness and tartness in every few bites.
Lastly, representing Mindanao, is Si Fe, which has 50% dark milk chocolate with vetiver, studded with freeze-dried pineapples and puffed rice. It's perhaps the strongest-tasting of the bunch, also having a floral note to it from the vetiver but also tanginess and crunch from the pineapples and puffed rice, respectively.
Each set also comes with a 60-gram bar of their 32% Mango-Pili White Chocolate, and is packaged in a pandan box, freshly picked and woven by artisans in Laguna. You can place your orders through Auro Chocolate's website—do so now, while it's still available!
Looking for a beverage that'll go with the chocolate? We suggest including a bottle or two of good bottled coffee. Some excellent purveyors in Manila are Yardstick and Man on the Moon!
