(SPOT.ph) The appeal of glamping and reconnecting with nature has peaked since the pandemic. For those of us who truly want to disconnect, this 27-hectare property is it. When you book a stay at EZCamp, you’re getting all that space to yourself. You can roam the entire property, which is so expansive you can find an abandoned coal mine and a trail that leads to the relatively new hiking destination Manayon Peak. Unlike other trails, there are no fees or organized tour companies here. You’re free to explore it on your own.

This Cebu glamping spot might just be what your city-weary soul needs:
Just because the rest of the property is truly immersed in nature doesn’t mean you’ll have to forego all comforts. First of all, there’s WiFi and staff members who maintain the place and can help you out during your stay. You’re not completely left to your own devices.
The biggest tent on site, the Lotus Belle, has air-conditioning while the Bell tent has an electric fan to keep the room ventilated. The former even has a “trippy galaxy projector” and a bug zapper. These two tents are furnished for four, but can even fit more people. Should your group need it, they can add more mattresses. If you feel like truly roughing it or need more room, there are two more regular tents that they can set up for you. The camp has two bathrooms; both are outhouses.
“The campsite sits on family-owned property. We used to go often with family and friends when I was a kid and I had very fond memories of the place. We would trek around the surrounding mountains, have bonfires at night, and watch fireflies light up the surrounding trees. There were no roads back then so it was hard to access [the property] and we eventually stopped going. Fast forward to 30 years later and the pandemic brought me back there. To my surprise the place was still pretty much as I remembered it. The magic was still there," said the host of this Airbnb who goes by the name of Kerwin.
"Perhaps the best compliment I've heard from guests is that staying in EZCamp made them feel like a kid again. This was the experience I had as a kid that I wanted to share with other people."
And who wouldn’t feel like a kid again when you can stretch your legs and shake off your ennui with this much green around? They’ll even give you a free S’mores kit for your bonfire at night! That said, it might be best to only take older kids who are more aware of their surroundings; the property is located on a hill that’s about to be reforested so there aren’t many railings around. The plus side is there are no obstructions to the view.
Speaking of the view, if you’re after clear blue skies and sunny weather, then of course the best time to visit is March to August. But if you prefer cooler weather, then December to February are safer bets.
For those wondering about what more there is to do in the area, or simply want to maximize the trip to the south, the host has prepared a list of places for you to visit. As for dining, you don’t have to worry. You can bring your own (no corkage fee!) and use the kitchen area, or you can just order from them.
“We are a bed and breakfast so we offer hearty breakfasts such as maple-smoked bacon and spicy chorizo with ingredients sourced from local suppliers. We also offer meals off the grill like liempo, grilled chicken, homemade smoked jalapeño sausages, with vegetables straight from our garden. The idea was to have fare that was delicious yet unpretentious,” explained Kerwin.
Though they only opened in May 2021, EZCamp has already attracted quite a following on Airbnb—and we totally get why.
