(SPOT.ph) Returning Overseas Filipinos and Overseas Filipino Workers can have a shorter quarantine period when landing in Cebu, as long as they are fully vaccinated. This comes after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia stated that "vaccination is a personal choice, and it should be incentivized" in a press briefing on Tuesday, September 7. With the new guidelines, fully vaccinated Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) need to stay in quarantine for only five days. A date of effectivity is yet to be announced by the provincial government of Cebu.

As of September 6, the Philippines adopted a Red-Yellow-Green system for international arrivals. Inbound international travelers coming from "Yellow List" (Moderate Risk) and "Green List" countries are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine. The first 10 days need to be completed in a quarantine facility or hotel, while the remaining four days need to be spent under home quarantine. RT-PCR testing is required on the seventh day.

Unlike this nationally mandated protocol, Cebu is looking to limit quarantine in a facility to five days instead of 10. RT-PCR testing is also done upon arrival and on the fifth day, instead of the seventh day. If test results turn out to be negative, the ROF or OFW may leave the quarantine facility.

Cebu is under General Community Quarantine as of September 8. Tourist attractions and activities are allowed to operate, and interzonal travel within the entire island is permitted.
