(SPOT.ph) The past few months might have led you to learning how to brew coffee at home or having your go-to delivered every so often, especially if you're the type who cannot function without the drink. When the hankering for a great cup of joe with flavor-packed brunch eats hits, you can get your fix at the relatively new BGC outpost of The Fat Seed Café + Roastery, located right across Terra 28th Park. Here, you can get freshly brewed coffee roasted in-house every other day by Bryant Dee, the owner himself.
Beyond the scent of coffee wafting in the air, the cafĂ© is also visually striking with vibrant Miami street-art inspired murals. The industrial design, the eclectic wall art, and the attention-grabbing rustic antler chandelier on the ceiling all add up to interiors that Dee describes to be “colorful [and] vibrant, but real.”
Before or after you take snaps of the space for the 'Gram, you can load up with The Notorious (Big) Breakfast (P550), which comes with a heaping platter of creamy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, a juicy veal sausage, pan-fried skillet potatoes, sautĂ©ed mushrooms, and plump tomatoes. For those who want all their favorites on one plate, this will be your go-to dish for sure. Have this big breakfast platter with the Oat Milk Latte (P160/Hot, P165/iced; plus an additional P60 for the Oat Milk upgrade)—this creamy vegan coffee concoction will keep you perked up and stoked for your day ahead.
But if you're looking for something lighter, The Fat Seed CafĂ© + Roastery has several options. For starters, you can find an Avocado Toast (P360) on the menu. Fat Seed CafĂ©'s take—which has mashed avocado, arugula, feta cheese, tomato, and a fried or poached egg atop toasted sourdough bread—makes for a version that's not too out there yet interesting enough with its medley of flavors.
Meanwhile, the Kale’N Scramble (P290) features a drool-worthy pairing of truffled soft scrambled eggs with sautĂ©ed mushrooms, topped off with kale leaves that are cooked to a chip-like crispness. It’s all served atop sourdough toast, and plated on top of thick sun-dried tomato paste. The kale gives you a delightful crunch with every bite, and it’s a perfect foil for the soft truffled scrambled eggs and the flavorful mushrooms on the toast.
But if you just want an uncomplicated breakfast to get you going, the Chia Bowl (Php 350) is your best bet. Featuring chia seeds that have been pre-soaked in the Almond Milk, this bowl is topped with nuts and seasonal fruits and comes served with honey on the side. It's a gluten-free, grain-free bowl that's got fiber and omega-3 and 6 to boot!
Got the seafood hankerings? One great dish to try is the Kale Crusted Salmon with Quinoa (P495). With a juicy salmon steak garnished with sautĂ©ed kale over a bed of perfectly al-dente quinoa, it’s a light but flavorful option that happens to be pretty good for you, too.
For those who want some carbs to go along with their seafood, the Soy-Honey Seared Tuna with Sesame-Sriracha (P460) has lightly seared big-eye tuna with special Japanese potato salad, fresh cucumber, crispy arugula, red onions, and sesame sriracha mayo. The fresh and vibrant ingredients come together perfectly to complement the delicate tuna.
And for the hottest of days, there's the Tuna Poke Bowl (P420)—a vibrant-tasting dish that showcases fresh ingredients like kale, mango, ebiko, cucumber, radish, avocado, cherry tomatoes, carrots, and big-eye tuna. Quinoa serves as the base for this cold full meal that’s similar to a salad—but heartier. And if you’re looking for a cool sip to pair with it, give the off-menu Moscow Mule (P300 for one, P500 for two) a try. This vodka-based cocktail with spicy ginger beer and lime juice is served in a special metal goblet, which also keeps the drink cold as long as possible.
Speaking of cocktails, you wouldn't want to miss the Espresso Martini (P220), which combines Stolichnaya Vodka and espresso roasted in-house with Kahlua (shaken not stirred). It leans toward the strong side flavor-wise, so be sure to take slow sips!
Best part? Your furbaby can join you as the resto is also pet-friendly. It’s this winning formula of great food and a friendly atmosphere that makes The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery a consistent favorite.
