And the Best Oscar's Acceptance Speech Award Goes to Daniel Kaluuya Talking About His Parents Having Sex

(SPOT.ph) Daniel Kaluuya just nabbed the 2021 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor—and his acceptance speech is making waves online for reasons you wouldn't expect. Kaluuya's win was thanks to his gripping portrayal of Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton in the biopic Judas and the Black Messiah. His speech pointed to the revolution that was the Black Panther Party in late-1960s Chicago, with, of course, the expected and well-deserved gratitude towards his parents—except that he may have gone a little overboard on that bit.

The 32-year-old British actor clearly wasn't about to let his moment to be heard just pass him by without a bang. So he went and took his chance at the freakin' Oscars. "I'd like to thank my mom. Thank you so much for pouring into me. You gave me everything, you gave me your factory settings so I could stand at my fullest height," Kaluuya said in opening his speech.

As the emotions undoubtedly rocked harder as the speech went on, Kaluuya said "We got to celebrate life." And then he just had to give us an epic example: "We're breathing, we're walking. It's incredible. Like, my mom, my dad, they had sex—it's amazing! I'm here. I'm so happy to be alive and I'm gonna celebrate that tonight." Cue an incredibly well-timed cut to his sister and mother in the U.K. reacting live to his speech.

Damalie, Kaluuya's mom, really just went, "What is he talking about?" We can only guess at the messy mix of pride and embarrassment—and a ton of other emotions—she must have felt at that exact moment. Plus points to his sister who just nope-d out of the scene entirely.

Kaluuya, who is luckily an Atlantic Ocean away from the one who gave him the factory settings, stated after his speech that he is "going to avoid my phone for a bit." Smart move. He added that she had a sense of humor—here's hoping it's enough to save him! Meanwhile, the moment has since been retweeted to infinity. Check out the funniest reactions to this, erm, unique Oscar's moment below.
