This Nifty Plug Lets You Control Your Appliances With Your Phone

(SPOT.ph) Picture this: You're scrolling through social media or your favorite online shopping platform and a random item you've never heard of suddenly pops up on your feed. You take a look and you realize that even if you've never heard of this item, it's exactly what you need to make your life easier at home. We know how much you like discovering finds that could seriously improve your day-to-day routine, whether it's mini vacuum cleaners, water container dust covers, heating coasters, and the like. Our latest unexpected find is in the same realm of providing you a convenient tool that you didn't even know you needed: TP-Link's Tapo P100 Smart Wi-Fi Socket will let you control your electronics and home appliances using your phone!

TP-Link's Smart Wifi-Socket has three cool features we're way too excited about: Remote control, timer, and schedule. Here's how it works: Once you've got your smart plug, download the TP-Link Tapo app (available on the App Store and Google Play Store), connect the plug to your phone, and set it up. You'll need a working Wi-Fi connection to get the plug working properly—make sure the socket is close enough to your Wi-Fi router, so it can receive commands from your phone. Once you've got it all set up, you can control the smart plug using the app on your phone.

Here's what the app interface looks like on your phone—it's very user-friendly!

The remote control feature lets you switch the smart plug on or off with just a tap on your phone screen. Whatever appliance is plugged into the socket will turn on or off without you having to go near it. You can use this handy feature to control your lamps, diffusers, chargers, and the like.

The timer feature lets you program the plug—and the device connected to it—to automatically turn off after a set amount of time. This feature is especially handy for chargers. You can set them to switch off after a few hours to avoid over-charging your devices. That way, you won't have to worry about wasting electricity while you sleep. You can also schedule your devices to turn on or off at specific times. If you want your electric fan to switch on early in the morning or your kettle to start boiling water in time for your first cup of coffee, you'll love the schedule feature. Overall, the smart plug would make handling electronics at home much more convenient!

Here's an example of some of the commands you can set on the Tapo app.

Note that the TP-Link smart plug—as with other power sockets and electricity transfer machines—has a maximum electric load, which means it won't be able to handle high-powered appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators.

The TP-Link Tapo P100 Smart Wi-Fi Socket is available online.
