(SPOT.ph) Keep on the lookout for a new testing center in the Metro! The Office of the Vice President is launching a free mobile antigen swab-testing service to aid local government units in Metro Manila. Dubbed the "Swab Cab," a pilot run is scheduled starting March 30 to April 6 in Malabon City.

Why Is Getting a Free Swab Test in Metro Manila Important?
To ramp up local government testing in the Metro, "magpo-provide tayo ng mobile na parang bus, pupunta doon sa mga communities na grabe 'yong transmission," said Vice-President Maria Leonor "Leni" Gerona Robredo about the "Swab Cab" effort in her weekly radio show, BISErbisyong Leni.
The Swab Cab was started in response to a need brought about by recent developments with regard to the pandemic: "bilang tugon sa tawag ng panahon," according to the announcement on Robredo's Facebook page. The capital region and surrounding provinces are back under ECQ starting today, March 29, until April 4 after a recent surge in COVID-19 cases with the Philippines recording more than 9,000 cases daily—and wider testing in communities is what the Office of the Vice President (OVP) believes is needed "upang maagapan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19."
Malabon City will be the first area supported by this new program. In coordination with the local government, these mobile testing centers will head straight to areas where transmission is high, said the OVP.
Doctors have also reached out to the OVP with suggestions to improve their testing initiative, announced the Vice President on March 28 through Twitter. They are now in talks to implement the suggestions from medical authorities before the pilot run starts tomorrow. "Thanks to well-meaning experts for the recommendations," said Robredo.
