(SPOT.ph) Studies show that the next thing we'll need to watch out for post-COVID-19 is the rise of mental health issues—if it hasn't risen already. Stressors like witnessing death all around as well as social isolation are taking a toll on a lot of us. In an effort to help everyone release the anxiety, the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Freelance Writers' Guild of the Philippines are holding free sessions on mental wellness through writing on February 10, starting at 9 a.m. It is open to the public through streaming on the Facebook pages of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), CCP Intertextual Division, and Freelance Writers' Guild of the Philippines.

Guest speakers and their respective topics include writers Maria Fatima Villena (Preliminary Research on Writers' Mental Health), Dr. Ellay Nadera (The Practice of Mental Wellness especially for Writers and Artists with Q and A), Ramil Gulle (To Break Away Writing exercises to help calm the mind), Imelda Morales (Writing as Meditation), Anna Felicia Sanchez (How to Survive through Writing and Reading), and Dr. Vim Nadera (Arterapiya). The moderators are writers Hark Herald Sarmiento and Ina Avellana Cosio.

"Conducting this event on the online platform prevents putting the health of the participants at risk and follows the mandate of the Philippine government to avoid social gatherings," according to a statement by CCP. It can also serve as a learning tool while still being in quarantine. The project is part of the cultural hub's efforts to continue bringing arts and culture to the public despite the ongoing crisis.
