Want to catch everyone's attention while plying the busy streets? Here's one looker of a scooter: The Spacebar, a foldable electric scooter powered by a 1,200w battery. It's conceptualized by Indonesia-based branding and design consulting firm Katalis, developed with "city commuting” in mind.

Katalis focuses on the future of mobility, automotive technology, and motorcycle customization, among other industries. It collaborated with another art studio in Jakarta, Kamengski, to produce the foldable two-wheeler.

When asked about the name, Katalis head of strategy Joseph Sinaga explained in a report by iMotorbike that "the electric scooter is hoped to be able to open up spaces which was previously not reachable by riders."

In a statement, principal designer Julian Palapa said that "Spacebar is able to maneuver through the busy streets of the capital city, to support its rider’s daily commute. Yes, it is small but fierce, like a piece of chili."

The Spacebar’s frame, swingarm, and front arm are made of aluminum. Equipped with mountain bike suspension, disc brakes, and daymaker headlights, the electric scooter weighs 60kg and has a carrying capacity of 120kg. It has a speed range of approximately 60km and top speed of 50kph. It sits 1,420mm x 200mm x 870mm when folded. Before this project, Katalis had already created the fighter aircraft-inspired EV 500, the futuristic-looking and matte EV1000, and the retro-meets-futuristic EV-1K/56.

Kamengski, for its part, also came up with Spacebar-themed concept art featuring Dragon Ball characters:

The Spacebar is available for pre-orders in Indonesia through the Katalis website, though they note on their Instagram account that they could only come up with six units of Spacebar for the first wave of production. It is priced at 6.000.000 Indonesian rupiah (roughly P222,203).
