(SPOT.ph) Since it was inaugurated in 2009, the Ayala Triangle Gardens in the Makati business district is known to transform into a spectacular courtyard of colorful lights, cool lasers, and festive music every Christmas season. That's over a decade of bringing Filipinos together through a magical spectacle shown every night for two months. And while 2020 is a very unusual year, that doesn't mean that Ayala Triangle Gardens is skipping the annual Festival of Lights. There's no on-ground installation that often draws in a crowd; instead, the well-loved tradition is going virtual.
Made in partnership with Globe Studios and Acid House, Ayala Land's Festival of Lights 2020 has three components. The first is a 360-degree immersive video that is streamed every 6 p.m. through Make It Makati's and Ayala Land's Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages starting tonight, November 24.
It features all-new Christmas-themed animations, fireworks, and lights that make you feel as if you're right there in the middle of Makati even while just sitting comfortably at home with phone in hand or laptop on your dinner table. Reese Lansangan arranged four Christmas carols for an "emotional trip," she said during the virtual launch.
The second component is the collection of free Christmas filters, which will soon be available through Make It Makati's Instagram page. A new augmented reality filter will be launched every week of December.
Lastly, viewers are encouraged to check out and click on the Shopee and Grab badges on the videos for a chance to get cool prizes every week.
"We wanted to keep the Christmas tradition alive, but make sure that everyone is safe," Ayala Land's Project Development Manager Misha Quimpo said about this huge shift.
Aside from the social media pages, you can also scan QR codes found all over Makati's business district to launch the video on your phone. So while Makati is creepily quiet these days because of the quarantine, you can just fire up your mobile and watch the video outdoors. Just make sure you wear your face masks and face shields and stand six feet away from other people.
Ayala Triangle Garden's Festival of Lights goes live on November 24, 6 p.m. through Make It Makati's and Ayala Land's Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages. It streams online every night.
