Stranger Things season 5: David Harbour training and eating cheeseburgers to prepare for final season

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.

Harbour was quoted as saying, “We’re walking into season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot of training for season 4. He [Hopper] was in a very specific position, that Russian prison. It was about making him a different guy and sort of shedding a layer of himself physically, mentally, and emotionally. But now he’s back in town, he’s back in America where they have cheeseburgers, so he will be well-fed.

He has previously said that it’s bittersweet to see Stranger Things wrapping up, but he feels like it’s time for it to end. Sadie Sink (who plays Max Mayfield) has said that saying goodbye to the show will be awful, while Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) said it would be ridiculous for the show to go past five seasons.

This is going to be a busy year for Harbour, as he will be working on Stranger Things season 5 and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts (which has a release date of July 26, 2024) at the same time in Atlanta.

Stranger Things season 4 had the following synopsis:

It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.

Here’s the list of the season’s cast members and the characters they play:

Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner), Paul Reiser (Dr. Owens), Jamie Campbell Bower (Peter Ballard), Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson), Eduardo Franco (Argyle), Sherman Augustus (Lt.
