Boston Strangler trailer: Keira Knightley true crime thriller comes to Hulu in March

The true crime serial killer thriller based on the Boston Strangler murders is set to be released through the Hulu streaming service in the U.S. on March 17th, and with that date less than a month away a trailer for the film has arrived online. You can watch it in the embed above.

Coming to us from 20th Century Studios, Boston Strangler will be released on Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) wrote and directed Boston Strangler, which was filmed in Boston back in December of 2021 and January of 2022. The movie tells the true story of Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a reporter for the Record-American newspaper, who becomes the first journalist to connect the Boston Strangler murders. As the mysterious killer claims more and more victims, Loretta attempts to continue her investigation alongside colleague and confidante Jean Cole (Carrie Coon), yet the duo finds themselves stymied by the rampant sexism of the era. Nevertheless, McLaughlin and Cole bravely pursue the story at great personal risk, putting their own lives on the line in their quest to uncover the truth.

As mentioned in the synopsis, the film stars Keira Knightley (the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) and Carrie Coon (Ghostbusters: Afterlife). Also in the cast are David Dastmalchian (Dune), Bill Camp (Joker), Alessandro Nivola (Face/Off), Chris Cooper (11.22.63), Rory Cohrane (Dazed and Confused), and Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age).

Ridley Scott produced Boston Strangler alongside Kevin J. Walsh and Michael Pruss of his company Scott Free, as well as Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment. Sam Roston is overseeing for Scott Free, Bronte Payne is doing the same for LuckyChap, and Sarah Shepard is overseeing for 20th Century Studios. Michael Fottrell and Sam Roston serve as executive producers.

The Boston Strangler murdered thirteen women in the Boston, Massachusetts area during the early 1960s. If you want to know even more about the true crime, there will also be a three-part companion podcast called Truth and Lies: The Boston Strangler. The podcast series will premiere on March 1st and will be available for free on major listening platforms.
