Sony has announced that a trailer for the sci-fi thriller 65, which is coming to us from producer Sam Raimi and A Quiet Place (watch that one HERE) screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, will be arriving online tomorrow… and while making this announcement, they also unveiled a 25 second teaser for the trailer! You can see that 25 second video in the Twitter embed at the bottom of this article.
65 is set to reach theatres on March 10, 2023.
Beck and Woods have written and directed 65, which we now know tells the story of an astronaut who crash lands on a mysterious planet discovers that he is not alone.
Adam Driver of the recent Star Wars trilogy stars in 65 alongside two child actors, Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters) and Chloe Coleman (Big Little Lies).
Raimi and Zainab Azizi produced the film for Raimi Productions. Beck and Woods are also producing, under their Beck/Woods banner, alongside Debbie Liebling. Beck and Woods previously worked with Raimi on 50 States of Fright, the anthology series he was producing for the now-defunct streaming service Quibi. That show is now available to watch on The Roku Channel.
Sony has been quite successful at keeping 65 shrouded in secrecy – this despite the fact that they have had a lot of trouble figuring out when exactly they want to release the film. Before the March 10th release date was announced, Sony had scheduled 65 to reach theatres on May 13, 2022; April 29, 2022; April 14, 2023; and April 28, 2023. We’ll be finding out more about the movie when the trailer arrives tomorrow… and judging by the short teaser Sony shared today, it looks like it’s going to be an entertaining creature feature.
The fact that 65 was produced by Sam Raimi is enough to get me to watch the movie at some point. I have been a dedicated fan of Raimi’s since watching Darkman and his Evil Dead movies at a young age.
