Marvel Scrubbed Netflix Credits From Defenders Shows on Disney+… And Fans Noticed

A Disney+ viewer notices that the streaming platform has edited out the Netflix logo from the opening credits of Marvel series like Jessica Jones.

Earlier in March, all of Netflix's Marvel shows were removed from the streaming platform, eventually landing on Disney+ on March 16. While watching the Jessica Jones Season 1 episode "A.K.A. Crush Syndrome" on Disney+, one fan caught that the Netflix name had not been entirely removed from the opening credit sequence, posting it on Reddit. For other episodes of the series and shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage though, these credits have been removed entirely without a trace.

As of writing, "A.K.A. Crush Syndrome" is the only episode that has been spotlighted for having noticeable evidence of digital editing. However, there are many episodes for shows like Jessica Jones now available on Disney+. Jessica Jones and Daredevil both ran for three seasons of 13 episodes each, while outside of the limited series The Defenders, Luke Cage and The Punisher both lasted for two seasons of equivalent episode counts before their cancellations. Iron Fist is the only other exception to the rule, being that its second season ran for three episodes less than its first.

The former Netflix series arriving on Disney+ also marks a major change for the platform in the United States. Up until March 16, TV-MA rated series had not been streaming on the platform in the country, prompting Disney+ to update its parental controls once the Marvel shows became available. Now, the ability to watch rated R films or TV-MA series needs to be enabled for viewers to access this mature content.

The move of the series to Disney+ also comes at a time when Daredevil fans have witnessed beloved characters and actors return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In December, both actors Vincent D'Onofrio and Charlie Cox returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Matt Murdock, respectively. While Kingpin went up against Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in Hawkeye on Disney+, Matt Murdock served as Peter Parker's lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The blind lawyer/vigilante is also reported to be involved in numerous upcoming projects, including a Daredevil reboot.

As for the return of other heroes from the former Netflix shows, one that has been rumored and speculated to return is Jessica Jones, with actor Krysten Ritter reprising her role as the superpowered private investigator. Ritter has previously said that she would "just die to play Jessica again," and her recent hairstyle change has fueled speculation from fans, being that it is very similar to that of Jones. The character was rumored to return in the upcoming She-Hulk series, but this was seemingly debunked in Dec. 2021.
