He-Man & the Masters of the Universe Gave Adam & Skeletor the Perfect Date

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Season 2 of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe continues the decades-long rivalry between Prince Adam of Eternia and Skeletor, except this time He-Man is much younger and less experienced in battle. It's why Skeletor thinks he can take advantage of his nephew, not realizing the Power of Grayskull, as well as a sense of family, has made Adam wiser.

It's crafted one of their most comedic dynamics ever, with Skeletor often making condescending remarks to the boy he once saw as innocent and harmless during his time as the human mage, Keldor. Ironically, this duality translated into the perfect date in Season 2 during a heist outside Eternos.

Skeletor was rummaging through the kingdom, hellbent on finding the pieces to make up the Sigil of Hiss. Now that he'd taken the throne from Randor, he wanted the put the relics together to raise the Hiss Army -- a legion of snake zombies that'd give him full control outside the capital.

His investigations led him to the vault, only to discover a train station. That's right, Randor activated emergency protocols when Eternos was taken, sending a train out that operated at bullet-speed, with the dark twist that if it slowed down, it'd explode. Luckily, He-Man's crew tracked the train down too, leading to all-out war on the outside. However, inside was a different story when He-Man and Skeletor realized they needed a truce of non-violence.

Without a truce, the drones inside the mobile vault would blow up, incinerating the sigil piece. Funnily, the guard bots had become so entranced by their pacifist stance, they turned the sigil's holding bay into a ballroom, dancing and waltzing slowly with each other. As such, He-Man and Skeletor ended up cutting a rug too, albeit way too close for comfort, to see who could grab the piece.

It created weird, humorous and somewhat creepy banter, especially because the nephew and uncle were clearly uncomfortable. But they were doing what they had to do, mocking each other's mission while getting hints of what the old days were. Now, this bonding wasn't enough to redeem Skeletor, but he did feel a tad sentimental knowing Adam viewed the past as meaningful.

That said, when they got close to the piece, their mean streaks emerged again. But by that time, Stratos of Avion flew in and jacked the relic for himself. Unfortunately, he'd get caught up in the scuffle outside, allowing Skeletor's forces to claim the piece. Ultimately, it added nuance, knowing both He-Man and Skeletor could tap into nostalgia like this, but no matter what, they had to bury the past after their date. That's because they were fated to be enemies, knowing each held one piece and now had to find the final one.

See how Adam and Skeletor have this intimate date in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, now available on Netflix.
