Alien: Every Hero In The Franchise, Ranked By Xenomorph Kills

While the Alien franchise is filled with a few memorable heroes, there are a few who stand out due to their ability to survive the various xenomorph infestations that have appeared over the years. However, there are also a few heroes who have made a name for themselves among fans because they are lean, mean, alien-hunting machines.

The Alien franchise has introduced a few different stages of the xenomorphs across the numerous sequels, continuations, and spinoffs that include the Aliens vs. Franchise series as well as the prequel series that launched with Prometheus. The increasingly deadly versions of xenomorphs across the franchise required even stronger heroes to deal with them.

10 The Crew Of Prometheus Sacrifed Themselves To Destroy The Xenomorph-Creating Egg Fluid

While 2012's Prometheus from director Ridley Scott took place early in the franchise's timeline and didn't actually feature any xenomorph's beyond the development of the very first neomorph in the movie's final moments, there are still a few heroes who should be recognized.

The ship Prometheus was captained by Idris Elba's Janek, who made the decision to sacrifice his ship in order to destroy the alien vessel launched by an Engineer. As the Engineer was planning to destroy Earth with a payload of the mutative dark fluid-containing eggs that led to the xenomorphs' birth, their sacrifice almost ended the xenomorphs' threat completely.

9 Prisoners Of Fiorina "Fury" 161 Worked With Ripley To Kill A Single Xenomorph

David Fincher directed 1992's Alien 3, which took the franchise in a new direction after the events of 1986's Aliens, which saw Ellen Ripley's damaged ship crash on the foundry planet Fiorina 161 along with a lone facehugger alien.

The planet was known as "Fury" to the prisoners who now inhabited the foundry, who soon found themselves hunted by a xenomorph that had developed within the prison's dog. The prisoners teamed up with Ripley to destroy the xenomorph using the foundry's molted metal, which ultimately claimed Ripley's life as well.

8 The Mercenaries Of The Betty Worked Together To Kill 3 Xenomorphs & A Nest

It can be hard to tell who the hero was in 1997's Alien: Resurrectionas the corrupt government was working with corrupt mercenaries to recreate the deadly xenomorphs through cloning and genetic modification. This resulted in the creation of a more lethal clone of Ripley whose DNA had been blended with the xenomorph queen implanted inside of her.

General Martin Perez was in charge of the scientific outpost under attack from the escaped cloned xenomorphs, and he managed to kill one with a grenade before he was killed. The mercenaries from the Betty who were trapped on the outpost worked together to kill three xenomorphs, and they also eradicated a nest of facehugger eggs before they died.

7 Rosenthal & Oram Each Killed A Neomorph While Tennessee & Daniels Killed Two Protomorphs

A ship full of galactic colonists tragically discovered the Engineer's home planet after the android David unleashed their own extinction weapons against them in 2017's Alien: Covenant. They soon became infected by the lethal mutagen that remained on the planet after the deaths of the Engineers, which led to the birth of two neomorphs.

While the security team for the colonists all shot at the neomorphs while they were under attack, Private Sarah Rosenthal got the final kill. Captain Oram also took out a Neomorph before he was used as the host of David's first protomorph. Covenant pilot Tennessee and terraformer Daniels then worked together to kill two protomorphs before they escaped.

6 Pvt. William Hudson Recovered From A Mental Breakdown To Claim At Least 6 Kills

The first sequel to 1979's Alien featured the highest xenomorph kill count in the franchise, as Ripley and a team of Colonial Marines return to planet LV-226 to investigate an entire colony that had been used as host material to spawn an army of xenomorphs. Bill Paxton's Pvt. William Hudson was a young marine who memorably had a breakdown.

Hudson claimed at least six xenomorph kills after he rallied from the failure, though he was likely responsible for more due to the various sentry guns he set up around the colony before their final stand-off. Hudson outlasted quite a few of his fellow Colonial Marines and gained more kills than most, but he still fell to the xenomorphs in Aliens.

5 Scar Had Over 5 Kills Before He Teamed With Lex Woods To Kill Another Xeno & A Queen

After the main Alien franchise, the fan-favorite Dark Horse comic series Alien vs. Predator was adapted in 2004 to bring Hollywood's extraterrestrial stars together on the big screen. Alien Predators hoping to test themselves against the xenomorphs lured humans to an ancient underground temple to become hosts for xenomorphs that they could then hunt.

While two of the Predators were taken out by the xenomorphs, one that became known as Scar managed to take out five of the aliens on his own. He also teamed up with a human ice survivalist named Alexa "Lex" Woods, who managed to kill a xenomorph on her own during the battle. They then worked together to take out a giant xenomorph queen to further up their kill count.

4 Wolf Took Out A Predalien & Multiple Xenomorphs With The Help Of Dallas's 3 Kills

Unfortunately, Scar was impregnated with an alien queen during the events of Alien vs. Predator which led to the growth of a Predator-based xenomorph that became known as a Predalien in 2007's Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. The Predalien crashed back on Earth and began to implant aliens in hosts to create a small xenomorph army.

An experienced Predator named Wolf traveled to Earth to hunt down the Predalien, single-handedly taking out at least five xenomorphs on screen as well as giving up his life to take out the enhanced xenomorph. A released prisoner named Dallas was using one of the Predators' plasma casters which had been converted into a pistol to take out at least three xenomorphs in his escape.

3 Cpl. Dwayne Hicks Killed At Least 8 Xenomorphs As The Leader Of The Colonial Marines

Michael Biehn was one of the leaders of the Colonial Marines that stormed the infested colony on LV-426, and one of the few survivors of the xenomorphs in Aliens. Hicks was armed with his trust shotgun, which served him well when the squad was ordered to holster their firearms at the risk of breaching the explosive core of the colony.

Hicks killed at least eight xenomorphs during the encounter, mostly on the crew's initial escape from the colony to their armored APC. However, he's likely responsible for more due to the sentry turrets he helped Hudson set up around their fortified control room. He was injured by the acidic blood of a dying xenomorph and sedated or he likely would have kept adding to the kill count.

2 Pvt. Jenette Vasquez Embarrassed The Rest Of Her Colonial Marines With Over 13 Kills

One of the most badass heroes in the Alien franchise appeared in the first sequel as one of the Colonial Marines' main gunners, Jenette Goldstein's Pvt. Jenette Vasquez. She operated one of the deadly smartguns and was one of the last Colonial Marines standing, taking out at least 13 xenomorphs (but likely more off-screen) before she went out with a bang.

Her fire team partner Pvt. Mark Drake only had one confirmed kill on screen, which he shared with other Marines like Sgt. Apone, Cpl. Dietrich and Cpl. Ferro. The inexperienced Lt. Scott Gorman managed to take out two xenomorphs before he joined Vasquez for a final stand that made sure they wouldn't be used as hosts for the xenomorphs.

1 Ellen Ripley Has Over 12 Xenomorph Kills As Well As 2 Queens & A Hybrid Newborn

Sigourney Weaver starred as Ellen Ripley, a former warrant officer with the Company who was also a Lieutenant First Class in the Colonial Marines who made her first appearance in the original Alien, where she claimed her first xenomorph kill after a single alien tore through the entire crew of the Nostromo.

She showed the Colonial Marines how it's done in Aliens with over 9 xenomorph kills while also taking out a nest and a xenomorph queen. Her death in Alien 3 took out another xenomorph, while her clone further increased the kill count with a couple more xenomorphs and yet another queen, though she had an assist from the alien/human hybrid Newborn, which she then also killed.
