My Hero Academia villains aren't trustworthy. They're villains after all, which usually means they lie, cheat, and steal to get their way. Villains like All For One are more likely to trick someone into trusting them rather than actually helping someone loyal or because it's the right thing to do.
However, villains aren't mindless monsters. Even though they are generally on the wrong side of things some of them still have a moral code that they abide by. Whether they believe in helping their comrades, equality, or revenge, some villains can be trusted in certain situations.
10 Rappa Wanted A Fair Fight
Rappa is a member of the Shie Hassaikai obsessed with fighting. He was one of the Eight Bullets who joined Overhaul because they lost the will to live. Rappa's love for fighting drove him and once he found a good opponent he wasn't about to let Overhaul's plans get in the way of a good fight. During his fight with Kirishima and Fatgum Rappa turned on his comrade, and assisted Fatgum with treating Kirishima's injuries. Rappa only did it because he wanted to fight Kirishima again – knowing that the heroes knew he could be trusted.
9 Hawks Played For Both Sides
Hawks is the type of hero that does the dirty work nobody else wants to. He will kill and betray anyone if it means saving lives, which is also why he was willing to join the Lague of Villains as an undercover agent. Hawks had to do a lot in order to prove himself trustworthy to the League but every step of the way he made sure the heroes knew what was coming. Hawks may have had to play the villain but it was his heroic heart that kept him on the straight and narrow.
8 Dr. Garaki Wanted To Make Shigaraki More Powerful
A scientist is probably the worst person to become a villain. They will break every moral code in the book if it means they can achieve greatness. Dr. Garaki was no different. As a servant of All For One he regularly experimented on people, including children, so he could create the perfect Nomu.
His need to create greatness is exactly why Shiguraki could trust him. Dr. Garaki wanted to make Shigaraki better so All For One's plans could come to fruition. Even if the experiments were painful Shigaraki could trust that he would come out of them in one piece, more or less.
7 Toga and Twice Helped The Heroes Beat Overhaul
Toga and Twice are a crazy duo that's hard for anyone to trust, including their comrades. They like to do whatever they want even when it means defying orders. It's unlikely that they would ever want to help heroes except, if it means getting revenge. After Magne was killed by Overhaul the rest of the League of Villains weren't exactly jumping at the chance to work with the Sie Hassaikai. However, when working with them meant getting revenge, they happily joined their gang, then instantly turned on them. It's probably thanks to these two that the heroes were able to succeed. However, it's unlikely the heroes will be willing to work with them in the future.
6 Gentle Criminal Was Beaten By Love
Compared to All For One and the League of Villains, Gentle Criminal's crimes are pretty harmless. He's more concerned with being remembered than hurting people, but he takes it a step too far when he tries to break into U.A. High. Luckily for the students, Midoriya was there to stop him. Although Gentle gave Midoriya hell it was clear that he didn't actually want to kill him. Gentle Criminal put up a heck of a fight but at the end of the day, his loyalty to La Brava made him turn himself in. He may have lied about the fight with Midoriya but his willingness to go quietly made him trustworthy and helped him gain a better future.
5 Stain Will Protect The Worthy
Stain is arguably one of the most important characters in the series considering how many villains were motivated by him. His obsession with All Might and fixing hero society led him to do a lot of crazy things including killing heroes he saw as unworthy.
Even if he was willing to kill anyone who got in his way, his backward moral code obligated him to save anyone he saw as worthy, including Midoriya. When a Namu grabbed Midoriya and tried to fly away with him, Stain was the first to jump into action. As terrifying as he may be, Stain clearly values Midoriya's life and is willing to do anything to protect him.
4 All Might Likes Playing The Villain
All Might may not actually be a villain but he certainly enjoys playing one. From the final exams to regular training, All Might has disguised himself as a villain in order to teach the students how to be a hero. In the series' first OVA the students returned to the USJ for rescue training. The training was interrupted by a villain attack. All of the students were unaware that the villain was actually All Might except for Todoroki who agreed to help All Might with the training. Having to play the victim was probably pretty difficult for Todoroki to stomach, but then again when the villain is actually the number one hero in disguise, it's pretty easy to trust him.
3 Gigantomachia Saved Shigaraki
Gigantomachia is an incredibly powerful and terrifying villain. Not only did he serve as the right hand of All For One, but he worshipped him like a god. Just the sound of All For One's voice could bring him to heel but unfortunately for Shigaraki, that level of loyalty didn't bleed over just because he was All For One's successor. It wasn't until Shigaraki proved himself that Gigantomakia was willing to fight for him and once that happened Shigaraki could rely on him to defeat the entire Liberation Army.
2 The Yakuza Wasn't Loyal To Overhaul
Overhaul may have had the Eight Bullets to depend on but the rest of the Yakuza weren't as willing to participate in his plans as the heroes originally thought. Once the heroes broke in and a majority of the grunts were defeated, many of them were willing to spill everything they knew about Overhaul and his plans. Considering how highly the Yakuza values honor, it makes sense for the heroes to trust them in this case.
1 Shigaraki Promised The League They Would Get Revenge
The Shie Hassaikai Arc tested the League of Villains' loyalty to Shigaraki, especially after Magne was killed. The League of Villains had just lost their leader, All For One and it seemed like Shigaraki was struggling to step up to the plate. Toga and Twice were the first to doubt him and were openly hostile when faced with the prospect of joining Overhaul. However, once Shigaraki told them his plans and promised them revenge, it was much easier to trust him as a leader.
