This combo would be a sure hit this year, thanks to the massive success of Netflix's Squid Game. That said, you better hurry! We suggest you add these to cart as early as you can, because along with the K-Drama's popularity, the aforementioned products have been flying off the shelves!
Call it the Squid Game costume effect; these pieces of clothing have spiked in popularity:
Yup, you read that right. According to Variety, "green-and-white tracksuits [have] become an instant best-seller shortly after the series premiere." In the same vein, there has been a huge 7,800% spike in sales for white slip-on Vans since the show was released on Netflix, based on data provided by Sole Supplier. And as for white slip-ons in general, a 97% uptick in search volume was reported by Lyst and is also being credited to the Squid Game phenomenon.
Additionally, even red jumpsuits and fencing masks have started selling like hotcakes, with people hoping to recreate the red-clad guards manning the games in the show. "Searches for red boiler suits spiked by 62% in recent weeks," according to the same report. Alternatively, you can also opt to copy the Red Light, Green Light doll with a yellow inner shirt, an orange skater dress, and a pair of knee-high socks.
The Netflix K-Drama, which has already taken the world by storm as it hit number one on the streaming platform in more than 90 countries, stars Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, and Jung Ho Yeon. It's inspired by a Korean children's game similar to the local patintero, but the show injects a deadly twist to it that sheds light on the current economic crisis that forces people to kill or be killed out of desperation for money.
