(SPOT.ph) Alright, so by now we're pretty convinced that Pixar can do no wrong movie-wise—but it looks like they can just keep on getting better. The first real trailer for Lightyear has finally dropped and you best hold on to your nostalgia. It has our first glimpse of the astronaut that inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy, erm, action figure, in our childhood universe of Toy Story. And better yet, it's our first time to hear Chris Evans voice the character. We hope you're sitting down for this:

The first sample of Chris Evans voicing Buzz Lightyear has us convinced:
We don't even know where to begin with this one. That animation. That David Bowie space song. That chin. And yup, that cliffhanger of a voice sample. Pixar has us on our toes and they know it.
News first broke that Pixar is working on a Buzz Lightyear movie in December 2020. Chris Evans was chosen to voice the human behind the action figure; which, with our excuses to the OG Tim Allen, was clearly the right choice! And if you're a tad confused about how they're making an origin story for an action figure, we'll clear things up.
The movie will focus on the story of the real-life inspiration behind the Toy Story character. We use 'real-life' relatively here. It will follow a young test pilot's journey to becoming a space hero, the kind of epic story that would warrant an action figure in Andy's universe.
"In the Toy Story universe, it would be like a movie that maybe Andy would have seen, that would have made him want a Buzz Lightyear figure," Director Angus MacLane laid it down to EW. To say "'Set in the world of Toy Story' is kind of weird. Another way to get at it, it’s a straightforward sci-fi action film about the Buzz Lightyear character," they explained. Fun fact: MacLane also directed Finding Dory!
Lightyear is scheduled for a Summer 2022 release.
