(SPOT.ph) In 2018, Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee collaborated with American toy company Funko Inc. to create their very first Funko Pop, a vinyl figurine known for its signature bobblehead build that comes in many iterations modeled after famous fictional characters and pop-culture icons. Jollibee followed it up in 2019 with another Funko Pop, this time around rocking a barong and then again in 2020 with a limited-edition version of the mascot sitting on a delivery motorcycle. In case you weren’t able to get your hands on any of those models, you’re in luck because it looks like the fast-food brand is releasing another toy with Funko Inc. for the fourth year in a row. Today, September 23, Jollibee unveiled their very own Funko Soda.
Here's everything we know about the Jollibee Funko Soda so far:
From the creators of the Funko Pop figurines, the Funko Soda is a slightly smaller version of the brand’s famous bobblehead toys—measuring just a little over four inches—packaged inside a cool casing modeled after a soda can. The can-shaped case sports a cool design to match the toy inside—much like how Funko Pop boxes are made to go with the figurines they house. The Jollibee version of the Funko Soda is the first-ever iteration of the toy to feature a Filipino brand.
Jollibee's version of the Funko Soda stands at 4.25 inches and features a more cartoony version of the fast-food chain's famous mascot, complete with an oversized head. It also comes with a collectible disc inside the can. Plus, out of all the Jollibee Funko Soda toys that will be sold, six of them will be glow in the dark—think of it like a Filipino version of Willy Wonka's golden tickets!
According to a video posted on Jollibee’s Facebook page, the Jollibee Funko Soda will be released on September 24. They haven’t revealed all the details about how customers can get their hands on it, but they did note that it will be available on the Jollibee App first.
