(SPOT.ph) "To be honest, nanliit ako pag name-mention 'yon," said Angel Locsin in reply to a question about what drove her volunteerism. The actor and philantrophist was recently on the Over a Glass or Two podcast where she spoke to Filipino-American hosts known as Jessy and JCas about why she does what she does—and in true Darna fashion, her answer is as honest as possible!

According to Locsin, there were a lot of people who offered a great deal of help too, so she feels like she gets an unfair amount of the spotlight, "lalo na pag mahahanay ka sa mga taong iyon." Rather than dwell on the negative, experiences like that "inspired me pa to do better." She continued, "Kung ano man meron ako, galing din ito sa mga taong sumoporta sa akin. Nag start ako, zero."

Angel Locsin Speaks Up on the Real Goal of Her Humanitarian Acts

The actor may have stepped down from movies and teleseryes lately but she has continued making headlines for her many acts of volunteerism, and she spoke about what drives her action (aside from, of course, just to help). "What I want sana is to inspire other people. I'm promoting volunteerism kasi."

She explained that whenever she is at an outreach or program of sorts and sees her fellow volunteers working hard, she herself is inspired too. That's the feeling she hopes to instill in others.

"So pag may nakakita sa akin na ginagawa ko 'to baka ma-inspire din, and then makaka-create 'yon ng ripple effect," she said. "At kung sino man' yong taong maapektuhan ko, maabutan ko 'pag kaya na niya baka siya din, suklian din 'yong kindness na naramdaman niya sa ibang tao and that person will also share that kindness sa ibang tao rin."

And Locsin added that it didn't have to always be material help. It is important, yes, but sometimes "mas importante maramdaman lang ng tao na may nagmamalasakit." She said, "hindi mo alam kung sinong nangangailangan kasi ng kind words, makarinig ng kind words sa malupit na mundong ito."

"One step at a time, parang one person at a time," Locsin said.
