(SPOT.ph) Getting a DFA appointment is now easier with the Department of Foreign Affairs having just opened five new sites for passport renewal. These sites, all located in malls, will operate until September so best book ASAP if you've been struggling to secure a slot.
The five sites should ideally be able to process 500 appointments daily from Monday to Saturday, said Brigido Dulay, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) undersecretary in a GMA report. This means that there should be an additional 2,500 slots every day through these Temporary Off-Site Passport Service areas. You can check out which new site is nearest you below:
- SM Mall of Asia
- SM North EDSA
- SM Aura
- Robinson’s Place Las Piñas
- Robinsons Magnolia

Department Warns Against Fake DFA Appointment Scams
During the B.C. times, as in Before COVID, the DFA was processing around 13,000 applications daily. The quarantine cut that number down to just around 6,100—a huge step down, especially for those who needed to fly in or out of the country for work.
The DFA noted a rise in online scams as the quarantine continues on. They issued a warning on June 26 against social media ads promoting supposedly legitimate appointments and DFA forms. "Several cases of fake documents from unwitting applicants who have claimed to have secured them through social media have turned up at the DFA in recent weeks," they said in a statement.
In addition to the five temporary sites in operation as of writing, the DFA will set up five more outside of the National Capital Region to accommodate others across the country.
DFA reminded folks that "only appointments secured from the official website, which is www.passport.gov.ph, will be honored."
