The First Few Moments of Trese Are All About That Train Breaking Down Along Guadalupe

(SPOT.ph) The animated adapatation of Trese is coming to Netflix on June 11—and it will arguably be the rest of the world's first major gateway to Filipino folklore and well, life in Metro Manila in general. So whatever you may feel about it, it makes perfect sense that the first thing Trese will show folks abroad is our beloved MRT-3 breaking down along EDSA Guadalupe. Thankfully though, it's totally the fault of supernatural creatures and not the general ineptitude of our transportation system (though we suspect that may have also played a part).

Netflix gifted the world with a sneak peek a day before the first six episodes drop on the streaming platform. The train breaking down along the major thoroughfare struck a chord with Pinoys everywhere from the trailer alone, so we know you can't wait to see what goes down there. Check it out below:

Oh yes, it's the white lady of Balete Drive. And yup, that is Liza Soberano voicing the Tagalog version of the badass Alexandra Trese! Unfortunately, we don't have all the answers yet regarding the train and what it was those three ladies saw—but we're more than willing to bet those weren't human beings they saw. Well, not purely human, anyways.

The Trese series is based on Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo's popular graphic novels. It was there we first met the mysterious Alexandra Trese who knows the ins and outs of Metro Manila's underbelly—including all the strange mythic creatures that live unseen next to humans. The much-awaited animation is the first Pinoy story to be turned into a huge Netflix original.
