One more million COVID-19 vaccines from China's Sinovac arrived in the Philippines early Thursday, June 10, with 2.2 million more Pfizer jabs expected within the day, authorities said.
Today's shipments will make up the biggest COVID-19 vaccine deliveries in a single day that will come at a time when the government is expanding its immunization program to economic frontliners.
The Cebu Pacific plane carrying the procured Sinovac jabs touched down at the NAIA Terminal 2 shortly before 7:30 a.m., the National Task Force on COVID-19 said. This brought to 7.5 million the total number of Sinovac vaccines received by the Philippines.
The Philippines is also awaiting the arrival of 2.2 million Pfizer vaccine doses later this Thursday, part of the 10 million shots expected to arrive this June.
The country aims to achieve "population protection" by November this year, with at least 50 million people vaccinated.
