(SPOT.ph) Director Erik Matti has made a slew of standout films in different genres: there's Kuwaresma for horror, On the Job for action, Honor Thy Father for thriller, and now there is A Girl and A Guy for, whoa, rom-com? Well, Matti himself wouldn't typify it under that specific genre, but he did say that his latest movie "is the closest I will ever do of a rom-com," on his Facebook page. Intrigued? We know we are.
Here's what you should know about Erik Matti's A Girl and A Guy

Oh yes, this flick is R-18 through and through. The movie, shot in Baguio, traces the adventures (and misadventures) of two Gen Zers fresh from intense heartbreak. It stars fresh faces, with Alexa Miro and Rob Gomez as the titular girl and guy respectively.
The movie is an original from Upstream, a local video-on-demand platform. You can buy tickets to stream the steamy flick through GMovies for P210.
"My bourgeois hipster self won’t let this film be called just another rom-com," admits the director cheekily on his Facebook post a few days before the movie dropped online on June 24. "But rather than taking myself too seriously, maybe this really is just another romcom."
"I take every genre a challenge. And this one is no different," he adds. So yes, all the nudity truly is a part of the story—and the Gen Z story at the center of it is something that the older gen director himself explained was a struggle to figure out. "Even if my friends of my age seem kind of doubtful this is something I still have the heart to tell at my age, I really think I did quite well with this. What I lacked in understanding for my age, I compensated by talking to so many people of this young age." Time to find out if the story rings true!
