(SPOT.ph) The genre-bending hit of 2020 cinema that is Fan Girl will soon be available to stream on Netflix. "How soon?" You ask. This same freakin' month—as in June 17. Netflix Philippines made the announcement on June 4, which gives us just enough time to prep ourselves to watch the movie all over again.

What is up with Fan Girl?
Not sure what the fuzz is about? Fan Girl was the runaway hit at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 run. Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, it follows a teenager whose obsession with her idol leads her to a dangerous situation. As played by breakout star Charlie Dizon, a highschooler jumps into the bed of her favorite actor's—Paulo Avelino as, well, Paulo Avelino—pick-up truck and ends up in some remote place with him. There, she finally understands why they say you should never meet your idol.

Fan Girl made a huge splash when it first came out for the festival. Folks had a hard time defining the genre-bending movie, which all added to the fun. Earlier in 2020, Jadaone had gifted us with an IG live discussion between Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz that turned out to be an experimental film—so in case you haven't watched Fan Girl, you can take that as your cue on what to expect.
