The Curator Is Once Again Named One of Asia's 50 Best Bars

(SPOT.ph) It hasn't been easy for restaurants in Manila in the past year—but it's been especially difficult for our local bars. Manila was famed for its lively nightlife prior to the pandemic, but all of this had to change as curfews were implemented, alcohol bans were put in place in selected areas, and dine-in was prohibited. Bars across the Metro were forced to close their doors—for some, even permanently. While our city's nightlife (and the rest of our daily lives, really) has yet to go back to somewhat normal, we can at least celebrate with a virtual toast for now: Makati establishment The Curator has made it to the 2021 edition of Asia's 50 Best Bars!

They're hailed for their well-crafted beverages—particularly their coffee and, of course, their cocktails.

Landing in the 38th spot, The Curator is the sole bar from the Philippines on the list, which was announced through a virtual awards ceremony held on May 6. Asia's 50 Best Bars deems The Curator's serving third-wave coffee by day and "kick-ass" cocktails by night a "winning combination," and praises its staff for treating ingredients with the "utmost respect." They've also named The Curator The Best Bar in the Philippines for 2021. The Curator is no stranger to being part of the annual list, as they've also gotten a spot in its versions from 2016 to 2020.

This year's edition of Asia's 50 Best Bars also includes a special extension, dubbed the 51-100 list and announced on April 29. And yup, more local bars are on it—including The Back Room in the 51st spot, Oto in the 61st spot, and Buccaneers Rum & Cocktails in the 100th spot (tied with Goa Nights from Macau).

Asia's 50 Best Bars is the Asian edition of the 50 Best Bars list, from the folks behind the list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
