(SPOT.ph) Amid talks on building mega vaccination centers and ramping up the COVID-19 vaccination program for Filipinos, local government units are doing their best to roll out the vaccines to their constituents. Some partnered with malls, others rolled out mobile vaccination. Quezon City, for their part, announced on May 13 that Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao has been identified as one of their mega vaccination sites. Inoculation is expected to begin there on Saturday, May 15.

Major Joy Belmonte stated in a press release that the Araneta Group has agreed to let the city use the facility, which is also known as the Big Dome. It is estimated that the site can accommodate from 1,000 to 1,500 people a day. The mayor explained that proper filters and fan systems will be installed to give adequate ventilation in the indoor setting. The Araneta Group is also providing medical personnel as added manpower, while Tzu Chi Medical Foundation Philippines is sending over volunteer doctors, nurses, and staff.
"The Quezon City local government unit is grateful to the Araneta Group for offering the Big Dome to this program for free. It is a suitable site for a massive and critical government health drive since it offers adequate space and accessibility to both our healthcare workers and the public. This will help us strengthen our efforts to provide our QCitizens the protection they need against COVID-19. The faster we vaccinate our people, the sooner we can achieve economic recovery," Belmonte added.
