Here's How You Can Get COVID Health Insurance for Free

(SPOT.ph) COVID-19 pushed our healthcare system to the limits with hospitals declaring critical capacity especially at the onset of the disease in 2020 (and then again during the surge in the first quarter of 2021). Likewise, Filipino patients infected with the virus are burning their pockets to stay alive—that's on top of making ends meet in the middle of an economic recession. In an effort to provide some financial support, mobile wallet apps GCash and PayMaya are offering free COVID-19 health insurance to their users.

GCash, through their GInsure feature, is offering two health insurance plans through their partner Singlife: GInsure Cash for Dengue & COVID-19 Costs and GInsure Cash for Income Loss (Accidents). Both policies cover up to three months and can be availed through Globe and TM promos. Coverage for COVID-19 and dengue includes test allowance of up to P500 for dengue, confinement allowance of up P40,000, and medical cost reimbursement of up to P100,000. Coverage for income loss due to disability, on the other hand, includes a monthly cash benefit of P100,000 to be paid out in 12 monthly installments.

Here are the steps to redeem your free GInsure health insurance:

1. Register for any the following GCash or TM qualified promos until June 30:

   - EasySURF: EZ50, EZ70, EZ90, EZ299, EZ599, EZ999, EZ1299, EZ1999, EZ249

   - Surf4ALL: Surf4ALL99, Surf4ALL249

   - GCash Exclusive Promos: EasySurf50 Doble Freebie, EasySurf90 Doble Freebie, EasySurf99

2. Take note of the voucher code that you will receive through SMS when you avail the promos.
3. Open your GCash app, tap on the GInsure icon, then click the "Redeem Your Free Insurance Here" card.
4. Use your voucher code and just follow th prompts to complete the application process.

PayMaya, on the other hand, has partnered with Pioneer Insurance to provide COVID-19 plus Personal Accident insurance coverage for one month worth P150,000. Promo runs until June 30.

Here are the steps to redeem your free COVID-19 health insurance with PayMaya:

1. Use your PayMaya app with your upgraded account for purchasing items on PayMaya, paying your bills, shopping online, and paying via QR for at least P500 worth of single or accummulated transactions.
2. Wait for a text notification with your digital voucher.
3. Log your information and voucher through the PayMaya app.
