This homegrown dessert bar has made a name for itself with their aesthetic desserts and handcrafted ice cream. The store gets its name from owner Karla Tan's childhood nickname. She mixes local and foreign ingredients to come up with the most unique ice-cream flavors. You might even be overwhelmed by its wide array of flavors—some of which you’ll be hearing for the very first time in your life, such as Ispahan (lychee, raspberry, and rose) and Toasted Rice. The latter is what you would expect—think hojicha churned into creamy gelato. Other interesting flavors are Ube Leche Flan, Ferrero, and Cereal Milk. Prices start at P120 a scoop for dine-in and P200 a cup for delivery.

Kakka Dairy Bar is at Vibo Place, N. Escario Street, Cebu City. For orders and deliveries, contact their Instagram page or their Facebook page.

Cloud Nine Creamery

Inspired by the famous surf spot in Siargao and the feeling she gets when she eats ice cream—on cloud nine—Jadilyn Cordero started to explore different ways to use fresh ingredients to elevate the classics. Fast forward to now, Cloud Nine has established itself as a homemade ice-cream brand with its own stall in Sugbo Mercado. A pint of their ice cream ranges from P260 to P290, depending on the flavor. One of their bestsellers is the Coffee Chip Almond (P290), in which the bitterness of the coffee is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the cream. There’s no shortage of nuts here, either! Other bestsellers are Dark Belgian (P260), Mango Graham (P260), as well as seasonal flavors like Durian (P260) and Avocado (P260).

Cloud Nine Creamery is at Sugbo Mercado, IT Park Wednesdays to Sundays from 3 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For deliveries, visit their Instagram Page.

Three Cheers Ice Cream

Three Cheers owner Peter Padayhag shares that he simply combined the best of both worlds—ice cream and alcohol—in one pint. The Instagrammable tubs taste as good as they look, and you can really tell its flavor even without looking at the lid. Just slow down though, because the cold can dull the kick, and it might be too late before you realize it. You can choose from Three Cheers' three flavors: Wine, Margarita, and Mudslide. For P675, you get three pints of ice cream in your chosen flavor combination in a gift-ready box.

Three Cheers Ice Cream is at Escario Street, Cebu City. For orders and deliveries, visit their Instagram page or their Facebook page.

Can’t pick between milk tea and ice cream? Koala Tea gives you both in one cup! For just P100, you get a refreshing cup of milk tea soft serve topped with either Oreo or pearls. Packed in a milk-tea cup with a sealed lid, it really does look—and taste—like your favorite milk-tea drink. Watch for other flavors; the black sesame is a sleeper hit. A big plus for the generous serving of toppings.

Koala Tea has branches at SSY Place, Salinas Drive, Lahug; Capitol Square, Escario; and Mactan Town Center, Basak-Marigondon Road, Lapu-Lapu City. For deliveries, visit their Instagram Page.

What started out as a research paper by owner Marionne Minerva turned into an advocacy to support local farmers. True to its name, Coconuts for Coconuts celebrates the humble fruit, and sources their coconuts from around the island. They offer a wide range of flavors of all-natural, hand-crafted popsicles made from coconuts. You can choose among Coconutty, Ube Macapuno, and Halo-Halo flavors, which all come with a generous amount of coconut chunks.

You can get two popsicles in a Paddle Pack (P100) with your choice of flavors or go for a Deep Dive (P300) with eight popsicles. Vegans can request dairy-free popsicles.

For an affordable but fully satisfying frozen dessert, Sol’s Halo-Halo is the answer. Halo-halo is a ubiquitous dessert, but Sol’s version managed to stand out thanks to its home-made shaved ice. It’s sweet, milky, and fine and instantly melts in your mouth. It’s then topped with the usuals such as leche flan, cornflakes, and gulaman.

It’s so good you won’t be able to stop at just one cup, so you'd be happy to know that prices start at P65 for dine-in and P85 on Grab or Foodpanda.

Sol’s Halo-Halo and Desserts’ main branch is at Katipunan Street, Tisa, Cebu City. For delivery, log on to Grab or Foodpanda. For inquiries, visit their Facebook Page.

How about a taste of Korea’s version of halo-halo? Sulbing Dessert Café is the ultimate Cebu destination for bingsu, which they call “Seoulbing.” You can try toppings such as rice cakes on their Injeolmi Seoulbing (P300) or the crowd-favorite Blueberry Mango Seoulbing (P400). Other flavors include Mango Cheese Strawberry Seoulbing (P400), Choco Matcha Green Seoulbing (P350), Real Choco Cheese Seoulbing (P350), Choco Tiramisu Seoulbing (P400), and Cheese Seoulbing (P300). Sulbing’s large servings make it ideal for sharing, though we won't judge if you want to have it all to yourself. If anything, it isn’t actually as sweet as it looks, making it easy to finish in one sitting.

Sulbing Dessert Café has branches at Ebloc 2, Asiatown IT Park, Apas, Cebu City and Gaisano Countrymall, Governor M. Cuenco Avenue, Apas, Cebu City. For delivery, log on to Grab or Foodpanda. For inquiries, visit their Facebook Page.

Aside from crowd-favorite savory dishes—hello, Brian’s Ribs!—Casa Verde also offers a wide variety of frozen desserts. Any local would know about their ice-cream cakes. The famous Death by Chocolate (P200) is a rocky-road ice cream sitting on top of a cookie crust, drizzled with chocolate sauce, while Jayden’s White Chocolate Chillout (P200) has cookies-and-cream ice cream with almonds. Both dome cakes are encased in a chocolate shell, which you’ll have to break to get to the good part. Cracking the shell is half the fun!

Casa Verde has branches at 69 Lim Tian Teng corner F. Ramos Street, Cebu City; Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City; 176 Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City; and The Walk, IT Park, Cebu City. You can order online through Foodpanda and Grab Food delivery.
