This means going back to hobbies we got into during the first time that quarantine measures were put in place, including indoor planting, baking, tie-dyeing, and painting by numbers. Acrylic Painting: Landscapes of Luna with Benedict Reyna

If you're a fan of Juan Luna's landscape paintings, Ayala Museum's class on acrylic painting with Benedict Reyna is worth checking out. It features lessons on putting together natural subjects on a canvas. The instructor, who also goes by the name benedir, is an expert in both traditional acrylic painting and digital illustration.

Rody Vera Online Playwriting Course

The Rody Vera Online Playwriting Course was launched by Pelikulove in 2019, just in time for the 15th anniversary of the Virgin Labfest, which the playwright co-founded. It features 13 lessons, from the history of playwriting to the more advanced topics of staging a production and dealing with directors and actors, all available as play-on-demand clips with summarized handouts. For one-year access to all the materials, subscription is at P2,899; but if you think you need more time to absorb everything or even play the videos again and again, two-year access is at P4,999.

Basic Drawing: Lozano's Still Life with Abe Orobia

Filipino painter José Honorato Lozano is best known for letras y figuras, where human figures, animals, plants, and objects are contoured to appear as letters that spell out particular words. In Ayala Museum's Basic Drawing workshop for adults, participants can learn the basics of drawing by studying the still life works of Lozano. The class is taught by visual artist and educator Abe Orobia, who comes from a long lineage of Filipino artists including Juan Luna (his great grandfather) and Maestro Orobia (his father).

If you've been toying with the idea of leveling up your love for photographs, Philippine Center for Creative Imaging is holding live, instructor-led online classes from May 3 to 7 on basic photography. There are four sessions with four hours each, where you can learn about the functions of your mirrorless camera or DSLR as well as technical and creative photography techniques.

Ricky Lee, novelist and screenplay savant, has taught many award-winning filmmakers and scriptwriters in his scriptwriting class. They're usually held in weekly workshops at his home library, through a masterclass at University of the Philippines in Diliman, or in special sessions at ABS-CBN. You can also take a class with the storyteller himself through Pelikulove's Powerful Storytelling Course. It features three lessons on creating a narrative for any medium, Lee's own pro tips, and writing exercises you can try. The self-paced class with video-on-demand materials is P399.
