You Can Shop Work-From-Home Essentials Made by Local Artists

(SPOT.ph) With the pandemic taking its toll on small local businesses, many have taken it upon themselves to support homegrown brands amidst the year-long lockdown, hoping to help Filipino artists, workers, and entrepreneurs keep their lights on. Since the change in our lifestyles has necessitated stocking up on all kinds of new essentials—from face masks to office chairs and everything in between—it's a great time to change your shopping habits and start supporting local businesses. Here's a great place to shop if you're looking to fill your home office with handy essentials made by homegrown brands: Go Lokal!, the Department of Trade and Industry's initiative to give small and medium enterprises resources and a market platform for their products, teamed up with local artist collective Common Room to create Silid, a collection of home and work essentials created and designed by Filipino artists!

Silid was launched on February 26 through a Facebook Live event that showcased the different products up for grabs, described as a line of "tools for tiny spaces." It higlights equipment that can help those who have been cooped up inside trying to work from home and stay sane at the same time—no easy feat. Each piece in the collection sports a distinctly local flair, putting the spotlight on carefully crafted tools with designs that celebrate Filipino culture. Common Room enlisted eight local makers to create over 20 products that encourage both productivity and rest—a necessary balance we all need in these trying times.
