The First-Ever Filipino Disney Track Will Be Sung By KZ Tandingan

(SPOT.ph) Finally, a Disney track that's entirely our own. The House of Mouse
announced that the first-ever Filipino Disney track features none other than "Asia's Soul Supreme" KZ Tandingan on Tuesday, March 2! The track is called "Gabay" and will drop on Spotify on March 5.

"Gabay" is all about trust, strength, and unity. It is part of the Raya and the Last Dragon soundtrack, the much-awaited Disney film that will be the first to take inspiration from Southeast Asian culture. Yup, there's a lot of firsts here! "To celebrate the introduction of Disney’s Southeast Asian-inspired princess and warrior, it is only fitting that the film’s soundtrack will represent the region," said Disney Philippines.

Tandingan, who we can now totally consider a Disney Princess in her own right, said, "I am very grateful and I feel very proud to be singing in my language, and show off its beauty to the rest of the world." Having a Disney Princess on-screen that we can relate to is definitely the main thing we can't wait for, and Tandingan sure feels the same. "I grew up watching Disney movies. Finally, there is a Disney Princess who I can feel a very strong connection to."

You might remember the eskrima-induced splash Raya made in the Philippines when the teaser first dropped. The animated movie follows warrior Raya (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran) as she travels through the fantasy world of Kumandra in hopes of finding the legendary last dragon Sisu (voiced by Awkwafina) and unite her land. The movie is expected to drop sometime soon—hopefully bringing Disney+ along with it!
