(SPOT.ph) When quarantine started in March 2020, Metro Manila’s public transportation system was temporarily suspended—causing a lot of problems in pretty much everyone's daily commute (as if it wasn’t already problematic enough). Some people have discovered (or rediscovered) biking to get from point A to point B, weaving their way through dangerous traffic and bumpy roads. If you’re still looking to build your confidence in riding a two-wheeler (or have yet to commit to buying your own), there are a few places in the Metro where you can rent a bike and ride them within a confined space.

But if you just want to rent a bike and practice on your own at Robinsons Place Manila's parking area, you can get a two-wheeler for P150 per hour. They're also renting out e-scooters for P200 per hour. To ensure physical distancing, only three bikes and two e-scooters are available at a time and pre-booking is required. The mall also has a bike-repair station—which is available for free—at the Midtown bike parking area.

Rate: P100/hour
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bambike Ecotours, which is known for their bamboo-made bikes, resumed operations on January 9. Rental is at P100 per hour for walk-ins (with 50% discount for students with valid school ID). You can also reserve online to make sure that you get a Bambike when you arrive in Intramuros for an additional fee of P50. Strictly no minors allowed. Don't forget to install the StaySafe app in your phone since you'll be using it to scan QR codes at places you'll visit in Intramuros.

Bonifacio Global City
Rate: P15/15 minutes
Available 24/7

Moovr PH, touted as the country's first-ever bike and scooter sharing app, began their operations in Bonifacio Global City on January 6. All you have to do is download the app and pick up your single-gear bike or electric scooter at a Moovr PH Hub nearest you. Unlocking and locking the ride is done through QR codes with the Moovr PH app. Remember that you can only ride around BGC because a very loud alarm would go off when you go past the designated service area. Once you're done, the app lets you know the nearest designated parking area (not necessarily where you picked up your bike). Rate is at P15 for every 15 minutes, which you can pay through GCash or debit and credit card on the app. You can rent their rides for a maximum of 24 hours, but you do have to return the e-scooters when the battery is below 15%.

Circulo Verde, Calle Industria, Bagumbayan, Quezon City
Rate: P100/hour
Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Circulo Verde is one of the most bike-friendly neighborhoods in the Metro, but what makes it a favorite among mountain bike riders is its indoor pump park—the first of its kind in the country. You can rent a bike and practice your skills for P100 per hour. Only 10 bikers are allowed at a time so it's best to reserve your slot through their website. People below 18 years old and above 59 years are not allowed at The Bike Playground.
