Pastel Gets a Tropical Twist in This Mango-Flavored Version

(SPOT.ph) Pastel de Camiguin—more commonly just called pastel—ranks high up in the list of Filipino breads. It's soft, pillowy, and usually has a sweet filling; it's no wonder that it's a popular Camiguin pasalubong among Pinoys everywhere. While the most common version is stuffed with yema, one online seller in Cebu gives it a tropical spin by filling it with the country's own national fruit. Check out Cecilia's Bakery and their take on the Mango Pastel!

Within its fluffy bread exterior, Cecilia's Bakery's Mango Pastel has a creamy custard filling made with real mangoes. A half-dozen box goes for P120 while a box of a dozen is P220, and you can share them away or hoard them for yourself if you're looking to carbo-load.

We've got a hunch that a box won't be enough.

Apart from the Mango Pastel, Cecilia Bakery also makes an ingenious Dragonfruit Pastel (P120/half-dozen, P220/dozen), whose dragonfruit filling has a striking pink hue. They're also known for their Ensaymada (P120/half-dozen, P220/dozen) which does not skimp on the cheese.
