(SPOT.ph) Still not over the glitz and the romance of Regency era London in Bridgerton? Well, why not give another British historical era a chance? The Nevers is a sci-fi action series that packs it all in—we're talking badass heroines (or possibly, anti-heroes) with mysterious superpowers—set in the grime and crime of Victorian London. Best part is that the new series lands on HBO Go in April! Check out the thrilling teaser below.

Now that is how to take off a dress—and look incredibly deadly while doing so. The Nevers takes place in a Victorian London where people, mostly women, suddenly have magical powers; they are dubbed by society as the "Touched." Unsurprisingly, the fact that women now have literal powers in the very sexist Victorian era rankles. Two of the "Touched," widow Amalia True (Laura Donnelly) and inventor Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), then team up to make a space in the world for this new group of people.
The two leads are joined by an ensemble cast that includes Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark), and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz).
In case that hasn't quite gotten your attention, just know that Joss Whedon was quoted as saying "The Nevers is maybe the most ambitious narrative I’ve created" in official statements. A huge statement coming from the guy behind unforgettable sci-fi series such as Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and the unfairly short-lived Firefly. Whedon is credited as creator and executive producer for The Nevers.
