(SPOT.ph) Tourist destinations in the Philippines are slowly reopening following months of closure amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It started with beach destinations like Boracay and El Nido, weekend getaways like Tagaytay, and other spots near Metro Manila. But if you're looking for a nearer local tourist hotspot, Intramuros Administration announced on Tuesday that the Walled City in Manila is welcoming tourists once again starting on February 17, Wednesday, 2 p.m.

In an interview with TeleRadyo on Monday, Department of Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said that they're hoping to lift the age restriction for visitors. "We thought it was safe kasi open space naman siya at malaki naman talaga ang Intramuros at Luneta," she said. However, one of Intramuros Administration's (IA) health protocols specifically said that only tourists from ages 15 to 65 are allowed to visit.

Maximum capacity is also enforced in the three spots: 100 people for Fort Santiago, 15 people for Casa Manila Museum, and 100 people for Baluarte de San Diego. Cashless transactions are preferred via beep cards with PayMaya, but the three spots are still accepting cash for the entrance fee (P75 for adults and P50 for students and PWDs).

Visitors are also advised to create a StaySafe.PH account for the purposes of contract tracing. This can be done through the StaySafe.PH app, which is available on Google Play or App Store. Your personal QR code will be used when you enter establishments or sites in Intramuros.
