(SPOT.ph) Yup, it's that time of the year! The #KwentongJollibee series, a.k.a. happy bee commercials that make us feel way too many feelings all at once, is back in time for Valentine's. They've promised us three stories to watch for—each helmed by acclaimed directors—and the first one officially dropped today, January 4. Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the short video is entitled LDR and if the term alone already gave you a jolt, well, best prep for the entire commercial below. Bring out the tissues!

How's your heart? The old-school meaning of LDR, "Long Distance Relationship," has been updated to "Lockdown Relationship," a concept we're sure everyone can relate to in one way or another. "In the end, mag-isa ka pa rin." Big ouch. They didn't have to go so hard on the script but here we are. Still, we're loving the ride this commercial gave us: From totally bitter to very, very heartwarming and hopeful.
"Di ako sanay sa TVCs and online ads," admits Jadaone in a press con with SPOT.ph. The director is fresh from the success of Fan Girl, the MMFF entry starring Charlie Dizon and Paulo Avelino #shooked over Christmas of 2020—a story that is far from this #KwentongJollibee. Talk about versatility! "Pero dahil narrative din yung atake ng Kwentong Jollibee, malapit talaga siya sa kung papaano kami gumagawa ng pelikula," added the director about the shift from movie to commercial.
Plus, the director had the benefit of knowing exactly what the theme of the commercial was like. "Parang nag method acting ako," she joked. "Kasi nga 'yong ganong klaseng LDR, naramdaman naman nating lahat. Not just with our loved ones, but even with our friends."
So it's clear were off to a good start. We still have two more heartwarming stories to wait for from directors Pepe Diokno and Ianco Dela Cruz!
