(SPOT.ph) Stargazing can be tricky in Metro Manila. You have artificial lights trying to upstage the twinkling stars, not to mention the smog that covers our skies. Luckily, the foothills of Sierra Madre in Rizal are not too far for a weekend drive; and they provide front-row seats to spectacular astronomical events like meteor showers and rare planetary lineups. Lambingan Hills in Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay, is one of those spots where you can go for a bit of a hike to reach a sprawling campsite.
Lambingan Hills, which opened to the public in 2018, is a privately owned property with a vacation house. Day entrance is only at P50 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and guests can take photos of the garden's colorful Celosia flowers, hang out at the swings hanging from a tree, or just look out at the surrounding verdant terrain. You can pitch your own tent for only P150 or rent one for P200 for an overnight stay (4 p.m. to 9 a.m.). Shower areas and restrooms are available on-site.
There are also rooms that are availble for P800 for six. The campsite has no electricity, but lights are solar-powered. You can bring your own food or get snacks from the canteen from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pets are allowed.

How to get there: From Tanay Market, ride a jeepney bound for Sampaloc or Cogeo. Get off at Crossing Cuyambay, then ride a tricycle to jumpoff of Lambingan Hills. You have to walk from 15 to 30 minutes to the campsite.
