(SPOT.ph) Finally, a reason to say goodbye to EDSA! The much-awaited Skyway Stage 3 will have its soft-opening tomorrow, Tuesday, December 29—and it will be free to motorists for an entire month, said San Miguel Corporation chief Ramon Ang in a press release. The NLEX-SLEX link has been taking up space on everyone's minds—and the Metro Manila streets—for a really long time now, and in case you can't go out to enjoy it just yet, well, we have the pictures to prove that it is finally here!
The empty lanes and smooth asphalt parts are making us feel things, too, don't worry. When the Skyway opens up in December, motorists will be able to use four lanes; the official opening is slated for January 14. By then, we should be able to utilize all seven lanes of the entire 18-kilometer stretch from Buendia, Makati to the North Luzon Expressway in Balintawak, Quezon City.
“We are glad to finally welcome motorists, even on a limited capacity, starting December 29. While this is only a partial opening, given the scale and importance of this project, this is a very significant development," said Ang in the statement.
The Skyway Stage 3 spans a total of 20 kilometers. Along with parts 1, 2, and the soon-to-be-finished Skyway extension along the South Luzon Expressway, the entire project will span 38 kilometers from end to end. It will have 36 access points and most importantly, it means that people will no longer have to go through Metro Manila traffic to get from north to south and vice versa.
