Marikina Shoe Gallery Concessionaires Find Temporary Home at Riverbanks Mall

(SPOT.ph) In case you missed it, Marikina Shoe Gallery, home of the world's largest shoes and main hub for Marikina-based shoemakers closed down in late November following the devastation caused by Typhoon Ulysses. In light of the store's closure and the devastating effects of the storm on the Marikina shoe-making industry, Riverbanks Center, the store's home, is holding a shoe exhibit and sale for Marikina Shoe Gallery concessionaires happening until January 4, 2021 where shoppers can support the local brands based in the city that were affected by storm.

"Riverbanks Mall extended its doors to Marikina Shoe Gallery’s concessionaires for a shoe exhibit," says Ching Maipid, advertising and public relations manager of Riverbanks Center. "Shoppers can still enjoy the quality of Marikina-made shoes that [the store has] been known for." Maipid notes that she hopes the exhibit will be able to help local shoemakers based in the city.

The exhibit is where you can shop stylish and practical pairs at affordable prices from homegrown brands based in Marikina including Valentino, SwatchPrincess Ilona, Checkpoint, Nico Angelo, D&T, Xykie, Alligator, Joy-Ven Shoes, Mondi Shoes, Fontelle Shoes, and more. It's a great place to go if you want to support small, homegrown brands that were affected by both the pandemic and natural disasters that took place this year. Don't forget to bring your face mask and shield!

Aside from being the main hub for Marikina-based shoe brands, Marikina Shoe Gallery is perhaps best remembered as the home of the world's largest shoes, as certified by the Guiness Book of World Records in 2002.

Here's a peek inside the store in its final days:
