(SPOT.ph) The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix has been on everyone's watch list lately. It's set a record as the biggest scripted limited series on Netflix yet, with 62 million households having watched the series in its first 28 days. The series follows the life of Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy), an orphaned chess prodigy in the '60s who has her eyes set on becoming the world's best chess player. There’s much to like about the series—from the storytelling, to the production design, down to Taylor-Joy’s fascinating portrayal of a competitive chess player and the way in which the strategy board game is highlighted in the show.
We wouldn’t be surprised if the series has either made you curious to learn how to play chess—with The Queen’s Gambit as your opening move—or want to learn the board game anew. Like Beth, you can chase your grandmaster dreams or sharpen your chess strategy, but of course, you’ll need a chess set for that. We scoured the Internet for places where you can get chess sets, and we’ve found a mix that’s perfect for casual play.
Check—pun intended—these shops where you can order chess sets:

Divisoria is known as the place where you can score affordable finds, and one of the more well-known shops in the shopping district is Anding’s Toys and Flowers Inc. We checked their online shop and found this foldable wooden chess set that comes in four sizes. Plus, you can get the set at a discount: if you buy a minimum of three sets, you get 5% off, and 10% if you purchase a minimum of six sets!

It’s almost the same size as the usual pocket notebook, which means it won’t take up much space in your bag. The magnetic pieces are packed in a velvet carrier pouch.

Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set (P4,000)
There exists a connection between Harry Potter and The Queen’s Gambit, thanks to Harry Melling. In The Queen’s Gambit, he plays Harry Beltik, the first chess player that Beth defeats in the show. The plastic chess pieces included in this set stand out for its details, which is based on the Wizard Chess Set in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Apart from the board, it also comes with two drawstring pouches to store the pieces.
