Matcha + Coffee Are a Perfect Pair in This Panna Cotta Drink

(SPOT.ph) There are coffee lovers, and then there are tea lovers—and it might appear that the two are from completely different worlds unlikely to ever collide. But when done right, tea and coffee can taste surprisingly great together—as proven by a one-of-a-kind drink we recently tried: the Matcha Milk & Espresso Panna Cotta by milk-tea joint Mama Cha!

As the name implies, the Matcha Milk & Espresso Panna Cotta (P180) is a bottled drink with, well, matcha milk and espresso panna cotta—and as simple as it sounds on paper, it's worth noting the A-plus execution. The matcha milk is as properly earthy and grassy as it is smooth and creamy, while the espresso panna cotta has a robust coffee flavor from the use of Sagada beans. As the two components come together (the drink is best consumed with a straw, which breaks the panna cotta into sippable bits as you slurp away), the full-bodied coffee adds a wonderful depth to the vegetal and slightly floral matcha. Texture-wise, the panna cotta also melds almost seamlessly with the milk, making every sip creamier without it getting cloying.

The Matcha Milk & Espresso Panna Cotta is part of Mama Cha's new Panna Cotta Series and includes other variants that you've got to try as well. Milk-tea fans will want to try the Milk Tea & Vanilla Panna Cotta (P180), while those who like it fruity can go for the Fresh Strawberry Milk & Vanilla Panna Cotta (P180)—you can really taste the real fruit! A more offbeat option is the Cereal Milk & Earl Grey Panna Cotta (P180)—unconventional as the combo sounds, it actually works, and you'll wonder why you never thought to pair the two flavors before. You can get one of each or opt for the Mama's 4+1 bundle (P720), which lets you get a free bottle when you buy four bottles of the Panna Cotta Series drinks.

Give the other flavors a try, too!

And if you're looking for a savory bite to pair with these sips, you can't go wrong with salty, crispy French fries. Some of our favorites in Manila are the Original Crinkle-Cut Fries from Nathan's Famous and the K-Fries from Bonchon.

Nathan's Famous' take on fries is for those that like it thick.

Bonchon's version comes on the opposite side of the French-fry spectrum, being of the skinnier sort.
